ISRAEL (Firenze, 1916-1938)

"Israel" was a Jewish political-cultural journal published weekly in Florence from January 1916 to August 1974.
It was born as a result of the merger between two Jewish journals, "Il Corriere Israelitico" (Trieste, 1862-1915) and "La Settimana Israelitica" (Florence, 1910-1915). "Israel" was directed by Dante Lattes and Alfonso Pacifici until 1938 when it was interrupted after a fascist assault. It resumed in December 1944 under the direction of Carlo Alberto Viterbo, who ran the journal until its closure.
The whole collection of "Israel" is available at the Library of the CDEC Foundation.
The issues published between January 1916 and November 1938 are accessible and browsable online too.
